Step IT Up

This is an opportunity for Year 10,11 and 12 students to undertake an intensive one week program that will include:

  1. Workshops on game development, web design, database, programming and multimedia. Students will be divided between computer lab studios and meeting rooms and assigned hands on practical tasks.

  2. Tours of Caulfield Campus including the IT Museum

  3. Discussion Groups facilitated by IT industry, academic and/or university students. Topics to include student life, study experience and social aspects (clubs and societies), IT industry and employment and trends.

September 2010 Version of Step IT Up (Development House)

Here is your chance

Meet like minded students, interested in development and experience what it is like to work in a high pressured environment.

Development House is a real world experience.

The 60 students will be broken into groups and assigned to a project to build a basic computer game. Each project will begin with a project plan and end with a product presentation (a project development cycle).

Students will be required to work to deadlines and the activity includes real world scenarios.

Time: 9.30am - 4.30pm
Numbers: 60 students
Location: Level 6, Building H, Caulfield campus
Cost: No cost to students

Date: September 27 - October 1 2010 (Monday to Friday)

Time: 9.30am - 3.30pm
Numbers: 20 in each week
Location: Level 6, Building H, Caulfield campus
Cost: No cost to students

Prerequisite: Year 11 students must be enrolled in or have completed units 1 and 2 General Maths or Math Methods.

The 20 students will be broken into groups and assigned to a project to build a basic computer game. Each project will begin with a project plan and end with a product presentation (a project development cycle).

Please note: Due to the 2010 Computer Games Boot Camp, Step IT Up will be scheduled to run, in the last quarter of 2010. Please refer back to the page for Future news.

The activity is in conjunction with Access Monash, IT Challenge and Computer Games Boot Camp.
