Biography:Madhu Chetty has Ph.D., M.Tech. and B.E. and has also recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Monash University. His main research interests include but not limited to the Computational Intelligence (CI) techniques such as Neural Network, Genetic Algorithm, Bayesian Network, Fuzzy system etc. He has special interest in the applications of the CI techniques to bioinformatics problems, e.g. application of fuzzy measures to classical profile HMM for improved sequence analysis, artificial neural network and Bayesian network for structure prediction, efficient and accurate genetic algorithms for protein folding prediction, fuzzy and causal network to model and inference gene regulatory networks, feature selection in micro array gene expression data etc. He also has research interests in areas such as grid computing, optimal control, modelling large scale complex system etc. Dr Chetty is a senior member of IEEE and Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India). He has over twenty years experience in academic positions at various universities such as University of Melbourne (Australia), Visvesvaraya Regional Collge of Engineering-now VNIT,(India), Delft University of Technology, (The Netherlands) and Monash University(Australia). He has also worked as Scientist at the Research Labortory at VNIT in India and as an production engineer in automobile industry. At Monash University, Australia, Madhu has also served as Acting Director of UG affairs, Course Leader and discipline leader of the Bachelor of Information Technology degree program at Gippsland campus. He is currently on the board of faculty's strategic education committee and also a coordinator for the honours program at Gippsland campus. Madhu has published, jointly and individually, over fifty research papers in journals and international conferences since 2000 and has also supervised three research students. He is currently supervising PhD, Masters and honours students. He has also been recipient of research grants to support his research. Back to staff list Update your details
