Biography:

Manoranjan Paul received his BScEng. (Hons.) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh in 1997 and PhD degree in Computing and Information Technology from Monash University, Australia in 2005. He is currently working as a Research Fellow in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and adjunct Research Fellow, Gippsland School of Information Technology, Monash University, Australia. Prior to this position, he was Lecturer/Assistant Professor (from 1997 to 2001) in Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, Research Fellow (from 2005 to 2006) in the University of New South Wales, Australia, Research Fellow (2006~2009) in Monash University. His major research interests are in the fields of image/video coding, multimedia communication, human group behaviour recognition, and video segmentation. He has published more than 35 refereed international journals, book chapters, and conference publications as a main contributor. He has published articles in IEEE Transactions such as IEEE TIP, IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TMM, etc. He also has published IEEE conferences such as ICASSP, ICIP, ICME, ICPR, MMSP, AVSS, ICSP, ICIS, ITNG, PCM, etc. Dr. Paul with Professor Weisi Lin and Professor Kevin (Jar-Ferr) Yang (IEEE Fellow) got an oppurtunity to organize a special session on "New Video Coding Technologies" in the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2010 (http://www.iscas2010.org/). Currently he is serving as a Guest editor of Journal of Multimedia. Dr. Paul is a member of the IEEE and Australian Computer Society (ACS).
