Monash University awards a range of scholarships, bursaries and awards for domestic, Australian Indigenous and international students.  A summary of initiatives offered is listed below.

SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND AWARDS

Scholarships, bursaries and awards listed below are available to domestic, Indigenous Australian or international students who are new-to-course or currently studying an undergraduate, undergraduate honours or a postgraduate coursework degree.

Monash University Information Technology Scholarships
Eligibility: an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa

Business Information Systems Achievement Scholarships
Eligibility: an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa intending to enrol as a full-time student in the Bachelor of Business Information Systems.

Computer Science Achievement Scholarships
Eligibility: an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa intending to enrol as a full-time student in the Bachelor of Computer Science

Software Engineering Achievement Scholarships
Eligibility: an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa intending to enrol as a full-time student in the Bachelor of Software Engineering


INDUSTRY BASED LEARNING SCHOLARSHIP and PLACEMENTS

The Information Technology Industry-Based Learning Entry Scholarship (single degrees of the Bachelor of Business Information Systems, Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Software Engineering or the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems at either the Clayton or Caulfield campus of Monash University, Australia)

This scholarship replaces the BBIS IBL scholarship from 2012.
Eligibility: an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or a permanent humanitarian visa; studying Australian Year 12 or IB in the year of application*; attain an ATAR of at least 80; Have not undertaken any previous study at a tertiary level; a VTAC applicant in 2011 into one of the specified single degree courses of the Faculty of IT.

*Students who have taken a ‘gap year’ in 2011 after completing year 12 in 2010, and have obtained an ATAR score of at least 80 and at least that required for entry into their chosen degree, are also eligible to apply.

IBL Placement Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time current students in the Bachelor of Business Information Systems, Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Software Engineering , Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems and double degrees associated with the Faculty of IT at either the Clayton or Caulfield campus of Monash University, Australia; completed all 1st year units as specified in their degree course map;passed every unit undertaken and maintained an average of at least 65% across all units studied*; available elective space in their degree.

*Students who have failed one unit may still be eligible to apply if they have subsequently passed the unit.

Women In Information Technology Bursaries
Eligibility: a female Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa intending to enrol in either the Bachelor of Business Information Systems, Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Software Engineering

Professor Cliff Bellamy Awards
Multiple awards are offered to current high achieving Faculty of IT students studying an IT degree

SINGLE UNIT PATHWAY FEE ALLOWANCE

FIT Domestic Full-Fee Allowance for single unit pathway into a Faculty of IT undergraduate degree
Eligibility
: domestic full-fee paying applicants who do not meet the undergraduate (Bachelor) entry requirements and enrolling into two (2) single units as a pathway into an IT undergraduate degree.  The fee allowance will apply towards tuition fees for the initial two (2) units (maximum of $500, ie. $250 per unit).  No application required

 

 

 

UNDERGRADUATE HONOURS SCHOLARSHIPS


Monash University Jubilee Honours Scholarship
Eligibility:  an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or an international student

Monash Vice Chancellor's Honours-PhD Scholarship
Eligibility:  an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or an international student

 

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS AND FEE ALLOWANCE

Monash University Information Technology Scholarship
Eligibility:  an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa 

Faculty of IT Domestic Postgraduate Merit Scholarship
Eligibility: a commencing or continuing student, who is either an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa and enrolled or intending to enrol in a full-fee, on-campus, postgraduate (coursework) degree at a Monash campus in Australia.  Scholarship value of $5,000 or $7,000 per annum, awarded to high achieving students that meet the eligibility requirements.  No application required.  For further information contact the Faculty of IT Admissions Office

Faculty of IT Domestic Full-Fee Allowance
Eligibility: new-to-course and currently enrolled* domestic students (who are not a recipient of a Faculty of IT or Monash University Merit Scholarship, or Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), or employer sponsored) will, upon enrolling into a Faculty of IT award or postgraduate degree, receive a one-off course fee allowance of AUD $1,000 to be deducted from course tuition fees
*currently enrolled students will be eligible if they transfer into a longer duration Faculty of IT degree

The Fee Allowance will apply for the initial four (4) Monash University units of a Faculty of IT award or postgraduate degree, payable pro-rata (maximum of $250 per unit).  Students who have previously received a Faculty of IT Fee Allowance towards a course of the same level are not eligible for a subsequent Fee Allowance.  No application required.  For further information contact the

INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIAN SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES


Monash University awards a variety of coursework scholarships and bursaries for commencing or continuing Indigenous Australian students.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Information Technology Indigenous Australian Merit Scholarship
Eligibility:  highest achieving commencing or continuing eligible undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate Indigenous Australian student, based on academic achievement from previous study

Information Technology Indigenous Australian Achievement Scholarship
Eligibility:  highest achieving commencing or continuing eligible undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate Indigenous Australian student, based on academic achievement from previous study

Monash University Indigenous Australian Archives Scholarship 
Eligibility:  commencing students in Master of Business Information Systems, Master of Business Information Systems Professional or Graduate Diploma in Information Knowledge Management who identify as an Indigenous Australian

BURSARIES

Faculty of IT Indigenous Australian Non-Award Pathway Bursary
Eligibility:  students who are enrolled in the Faculty of IT Indigenous Australian Non-award Pathway Scheme of two single non-award IT units in order to articulate into an undergraduate degree with the Faculty of IT

Faculty of IT Indigenous Australian Study Support Bursary
Eligibility:  Indigenous Australian students commencing or continuing an undergraduate or graduate or postgraduate coursework degree within in the Faculty of IT.  Awarded to eligible students on the basis of need

 

INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS and FEE ALLOWANCE


Faculty of Information Technology International Merit Scholarship 
Eligibility:  an international student applying for entry into a Faculty of IT undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at a Monash University campus in Australia.  Continuing IT students who excel in their first semester of study, achieving a grade point average of 80% or above will be awarded either the Level 1 or Level 2 scholarship for the remainder of their degree.   More information on this scholarship and eligibility table, available here.

Monash University International Scholarships for Excellence
Eligibilityan international student applying for entry into a Faculty of IT undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at a Monash University campus in Australia.  More information on this scholarship available here.

Faculty of IT International Fee Allowance
New-to-course international students who are not a recipient of the Faculty of IT International Merit Scholarship or a sponsored applicant , will upon accepting their offer and enrolling in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework IT degree at Monash University, receive a one-off course fee allowance of AUD $1,000, to be deducted from course tuition fees

 

MONASH UNIVERSITY MEDALS - ALL STUDENTS


Sir John Monash Medal
Eligibility:
a Faculty of IT completing undergraduate student demonstrating outstanding academic record and commitment to advancing Monash University's goals of social justice, human rights and a sustainable environment.

University Medal for Undergraduate Academic Excellence
University Medal awarded annually to a completing Faculty of IT student in recognition of academic excellence in undergraduate honours degree or degree with honours.  No application required

Academic Medal for Excellence in Graduate and Postgraduate Coursework Study
University Medal awarded annually to a completing Faculty of IT student in recognition of academic excellence in graduate or postgraduate coursework study.  No application required

 

EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIP
