ACS Foundation Work Integrated Learning Scholarships

Scholarships

The ACS Foundation has just completed the negotiations with a donor for five new Work Integrated Learning Scholarships. These scholarships are to commence at the beginning of the first academic semester 2006 and run for a period of twelve months and could be located in any state.

The Scholarship is to the value of $28,000 for the 48 weeks duration, plus free membership of the Australian Computer Society.

The successful students will be placed in the workplace employment for the 12 month period. Workplace environment can be adjusted to suit the student's requirements if necessary.

Appropriate students should be completing their penultimate year (2 nd last year) of their undergraduate studies in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) disciplines.

Students must be able to demonstrate outstanding communication skills; high academic achievements; individual motivation and an ability to participate in team / client ICT solutions. Knowledge of Unix systems is essential. A desire by the student to be involved in creative ICT business solutions will also be valued at the interview.

Eligibility

Awarded from one or more of the following groups :

  • People from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Long-term difficult family circumstances
  • People with a disability
  • Women in undergraduate ICT course (those in which female enrolment is less than 40%)

In addition students must have:

  • Student must have proof of Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Student must have proof of enrolment in a Monash University course and should be completing their penultimate year of undergraduate studies in Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

Selection Process

Selected students will be interviewed by a combined ACS Foundation and Industry panel.

How to Apply

  1. Students are requested to submit a short one page covering letter along with their curriculum vitae, current academic results, documentation to support equity eligibility and any other relevant documentation. The letter should be succinct and give a brief outline of their desires and community involvement.

  3. The application form plus attached documentation should be forwarded to the following address and be received by the Faculty no later than close of business on Friday 11 th November, 2005.
