Industry Based Learning (IBL) was developed in 1988 as a cooperative education collaboration between industry and Monash University at the initiative of the Business Council of Australia and supported by the Federal Government. Partnerships with major global organisations, leading Australian companies, and local and international consultancies enable the Faculty of Information Technology to offer many students an inclusive and confidence building university experience, very attractive IBL Entry and Placement scholarships (up to $34,000) and industry based learning. The IBL Program is offered in all of the faculty’s undergraduate degrees at the Caulfield and Clayton campuses.
IBL is part of the undergraduate curriculum and leads to exciting, well paid and prestigious graduate positions. Students apply skills gained from their university studies in corporate environments during one or two 22 week placements. Students on placement receive a $15,000 scholarship and their industry work is assessed and credited towards their degree. The IBL experience makes them job-ready and appealing to organisations for full-time employment upon graduation.
IBL students also participate in a number of industry assisted activities, including field trips to partner companies in first year, an industry seminar series in second year, a career start program and an exclusive graduate recruitment day in third year.
Note: Due to Australian government regulations IBL is currently only available to Australian citizens and permanent residents.
