Sustainability

How can IT enable our infrastructure to provide sustainable solutions and sufficient water, energy, goods and services?

The Faculty of IT is increasingly taking a holistic approach to developing new sustainability initiatives, with research covering community, industry and government sectors.

Two main themes in this area are:

  • predicting and preparing for emergencies, and
  • developing technologies that best support our society's needs, in an economic and socially sustainable manner.

Projects listed within this research priority are led by researchers in the Monash Centre for Optimisation in Travel, Transport and Logistics (CTI), Centre for Research in Intelligent Systems (CRIS) and the Centre for Multimedia Computing, Communications and Applications Research (MCCAR).
