The Faculty of IT currently has around 150 higher degree by research students - talented people making the most of our excellent facilities, e-Research partnerships, world class research centres and excellent reputation.

Research degree programs

The PhD and Masters by research degrees within the Faculty of IT traditionally appeal to those looking to pursue a career in software engineering, applications, systems design and analysis, computer programming and business analysis.

Research graduates now seek skills and training in order to:

  • collaborate with other researchers within industries, government and community organisations,
  • manage teams, develop research strategies, and
  • be competitive in attracting research funding,
  • gain patents and engage people in social change.

The new research programs in Monash IT are designed with the aspirations of diverse career paths in mind. The interdisciplinary nature of the programs, enhanced by specialist coursework and training components will provide you for work beyond your degree.

The following degrees are offered:

  • 0190 Doctor of Philosophy
  • 3337 Master of Philosophy

From 2013 the Faculty of IT PhD program will contain a coursework component.
